I have a pending charge of $20-$35 on my bank account, but did not purchase $20-$35 worth of food at the SmartMarket. 

We get this question all the time. Please be assured that the SmartMarket only charges for products that it dispenses. As it does not know the products you are going to select ahead of time, the way card readers on vending machines work is a lot like a gas pump. The card processor will put a pre authorization on your account when you are attempting to use the card at a machine. Similar to a gas pump, you may see a “PENDING” hold for a higher amount than what is purchased (i.e. $25-$35). This is standard behavior on all vending machines. Please rest assured that you will only be charged for items that dispense. For any questions about the hold policy of the funds, please contact your bank directly. Typically, you will see the hold fall off your account within 24 to 48 hours. 
I completed my purchase, but my meal didn’t dispense properly!

I swiped my card, but nothing happened. 

First, ensure that you’ve added the items that you’d like to purchase to your cart. If the items are already in your card, ensure that the magnetic strip on your card is oriented in the right direction when you swipe (flip it around to see if it works!)
